FAQ

When is the best time to book for my session?

I take bookings at any point you wish to book. I have a limited number of bookings per month so the sooner the better especially in popular months.

How old does the baby have to be when you do your session?

Ideally I like bubbas to be around the 7-12 day old mark. But that being said, every baby is different and your journey as a mum and recovering from birth is going to be different each time. So please don’t think that its ever too late, that you missed that stage. Many of my babies are weeks and months old.

Can we have parent and sibling photos during the session?

Absolutely, of course! There is no extra charge for sibling or family photos as part of your session.

How does it work best with sibling and family photos?

I will usually ask that if possible, you bring two cars out to your session. Maybe get your partner/friend/family member to come and help and we do all the kids and family photos first. Then they can take the kids into town for a play/special treat/lunch while we finish off babies photos on their own. This way you are nice and relaxed and it gives you a bit of time with just your newest addition.

How long does the session go for?

Usually around 2-3hrs.

What do we wear to the session?

I like to keep sibling and parent’s pretty simple. So that its all about the baby and you all sit really well together. I will usually dress mumma in one of my super comfy maternity gowns and then match in baby with whatever dad is wearing too.

Do we need to bring anything to the session?

The Studio is absolutely jam packed with many props so there is no need to bring anthing along. However, if you wish to bring heirlooms or something personal that you would like included in your session, then certainly bring them along. People tend to bring along knitted blankets by nanna, work tools or small teddy bears, that kind of thing.

Do I have to pay a deposit if I pre-book?

There is just a $50 deposit to secure your booking. The rest can be paid in instalments even after your session.

How does the instalment process work?

I have direct debit facilities, so its very simply a form that you sign with your account details and BSB to allow me to deduct a weekly/fortnightly amount. Usually its $50 a week/fortnight for the smaller packages and $100 for the larger ones as a guide.

Each time a payment is made we email you a receipt with your running balance too.

How many weeks pregnant do I need to be to book?

Its up to you when you pre-book. Most will wait till they are around 12 weeks to make a booking, however I am happy to book you in whenever you wish.

When do you do your maternity session?

Ideally around 35 weeks is when I like to do my Maternity sessions. This is so you are lovely and round but not too close to your due date and not in the “Im stuck on the couch” phase!

If this isn’t your first baby and you delivered earlier with your first, then we will move your session forward accordingly.

Can my partner/other siblings be part of the session?

Absolutely! I encourage you to bring along your partner and any older siblings for bubs. This is such a special time to really appreciate where you have come as a couple and to stop and appreciate the wonders of the female body.

Do we need to bring any outfits?

Everything is provided here in the Studio including all the gowns you see on my website. I have many, many different colours and designs of gowns so there is certainly something to suit every body shape and size.

The only thing I will ask you to bring along is a nude strapless bra and nude underwear to wear under the gowns. These are available from Kmart, Target, and Big W at not much cost and Bras n things if you are bigger breasted.

How long does the session go for?

Usually around 1-1.5hrs but if I have a certain idea in mind I have been known to get a little side tracked ahhahah J

Can we do outdoor & indoor photos?

Every session I like to do both for you. I will do a few set ups of both, or if you wish just outdoors especially in summer when the afternoon light is just delicious!

How does the Pamper pack work?

I have a Hair and Make up team that will do your hair and make up for you for your session. This is usually done in the order of Hair first, then make up, and then you come to me for your session. The Hair & Make up team will send you their details a few days before your session as well.

How does the intallment process work?

I have direct debit facilities, so its very simply a form that you sign with your account details and BSB to allow me to deduct a weekly/fortnightly amount. Usually its $50 a week/fortnight for the smaller packages and $100 for the larger ones as a guide.

Each time a payment is made we email you a receipt with your running balance too.

I really recommend if you are interested in Birth Photography to come and chat to me about all the in’s and out’s of Birth Photography and your previous births and how it all works. In the meantime here are some answers beforehand to common questions:

How long are you on call for for a birth?

I stay in Bendigo on call for 24hours a day/7 days a week for two weeks before your due date and 2 weeks after.

How many bookings do you take a month for births?

Due to being on call for a month for you, I only take 2 Births a month so bookings are extremely limited. And if you are booking in a month where I already have a booking, I will only accept you if you are birthing at the same hospital just in case you both overlap. It has only happened once in my time of doing Births.

Where do you travel to for births?

Due to Births being so unpredictable then I will only do them in the Bendigo and district area. If you are having an elective c-section and are outside this area then it might be possible for me to attend.

When do you come to the hospital?

Obviously every birth is different so we definitely have to play it by ear and see how you progress. But roughly around when you are 6-7 cms dialted I will come in. We stay in constant contact and liase with the nurses at the hospital about how you are dilating.

Does it matter if its day or night?

Absolutely not! Babies come when they want! I will be here for you day or night J

How long do you stay for in a birth?

Births take however long they need to, so its all flexible. I will stay to get your babies first breaths and entrance into this world. Then cuddles with mum and dad, getting weighed by the nurses, first feed and cuddles from family members.

What if the siblings come to meet the baby, will you capture that?

Yes for sure. These are some of my favourite moments and ones that I wish I had photos off for my children. Depending on their age, time of the night etc, then I will come back later that day or the next day to get these gorgeous photos for you J

What if I need an emergency c-section?

If you need an emergency c-section and I am with you in the birthing suite then I will just wait on the ward for you to come back. Usually only one person is allowed to accompany you into theatre, and I am more than willing to be that one person if you wish, but most will take their partner.

Can you do a birth if I have an elective c-section?

Yes I certainly can. Same as above I will just need to be your one person you take into theatre with you. I have done them before and am more than happy to be your support person.

What happens if something goes wrong?

These are all things we discuss in person. But I will use my judgement when it comes to this. If you ask me to stop photographing then I absolutely will, but sometimes in these cases you will wish for me to continue. Its not something we like to talk about but it is something to keep in mind. My first priority is you and your health so if I am asked to leave the room I will. Yours and the babies safety comes first.

Can I pay in instalments with birth photography too?

You certainly can. Most will pay in instalments in the lead up to the Birth.

What is included in your family session?

In every session I aim to get beautiful photos of each child on their own, the kids together, mum with the kids, dad with the kids, then just mum and dad together and then the whole family. Usually I will do two different locations in a standard family session.

Do we have to find the locations?

No you certainly don’t have to find the locations, that is my job J I will ask you if you have any preferences or if there is anything that suits you and your family such as farmers love shearing sheds, the bush setting, or a floral setting. I select my locations based on the time of year, the season and the light.

Do you have a Studio for some indoor photos?

Yes I certainly do! I suggest for younger children we do some photos inside in the comfort and warmth of the studio. We then head outside on location for additional photos on a property near the studio.

What do we wear?

I will help and send you some suggestions on what to wear and co-ordinating your family. We don’t want everything to be all matchy-matchy, I want to allow you to show each child’s personality but also making sure you all sit together really well. I will send you some examples of colours that suit depending where I intend having your session and the time of year.

How does the Pamper pack work?

I have a Hair and Make up team that will do your hair and make up for you for your session. This is usually done in the order of Hair first, then make up, and then you come to me for your session. The Hair & Make up team will send you their details a few days before your session as well.

You are welcome to have your little girls hair done as well, this is only a tiny bit extra.

Do we have to pay in full on the day?

No you don’t have to bring any money on the day.  Most will opt for the instalment process which is done after you place your order.

How does the intallment process work?

I have direct debit facilities, so it’s very simply a form that you sign with your account details and BSB to allow me to deduct a weekly/fortnightly amount. Usually its $50 a week/fortnight for the smaller packages and $100 for the larger ones as a guide.
